Koi dost hai na raqeeb hai

Koi dost hai na raqeeb hai,
There are neither friends nor foes here

Tera shehr kitna ajeeb hai.
Your city is a strange deserted sphere

Woh jo ishq tha woh junoon tha,
That love was passion that wouldn't abate

Yeh jo hijr hai ye naseeb hai.
This separation is indeed fate

Yahan kiska chehra padha karoon?
Here, whose face do I read, like I would a rose?

Yahan kaun itna kareeb hai?
Who around here is to my heart so close?

Main kisse kahoon mere saath chal?
Whom do I ask alongside with me tread?

Yahan sab ke sar pe saleeb hai
Everyone here carries a cross on their head

[raqeeb=enemy;foe]
[ajeeb=strange]
[junoon=passion]
[hijre=separation]
[saleeb=noose;cross]

      Here, saleeb means a 'cross', on which Jesus Christ was made to walk around the streets carrying it on his shoulders before he was crucified on the same. The metaphorical meaning is : These days everyone is having his own 'burdens'(depicted by the cross on shoulders), his own problems and responsibilities - so the person is wondering whom should he ask for help !!
